Bluefin is starting off 2019 with a bang and loads of exciting news, to us anyway. We’ve been recognised in spectacular fashion for our hard work in 2018, SUPed in the snow and really ramped up our efforts to shine a light on how great our SUP community is. We’ve put on our glad rags and partied hard in the process and are so excited to see what the rest of this year will bring. Let us tell you about some of our finest moments so far.
1. Bluefin hero Jason Elliot paddles 160 miles on a Sprint in February for Charity
We are always interested in a good cause, especially when it comes to cleaning our waterways. This is why we were more than happy to help sponsor Jason Elliot of our own Hebden Bridge on his 162 mile journey along the Desmond Family Canoe Trail. The fact that Jason accomplished this feat on a Sprint over 10 frigid days in February is almost as impressive as the fact that he raised over £2,300 for Surfer’s Against Sewage in the process. On my recent long paddle across the country I was viciously attacked 3 times by mardy swans, but ultimately I developed a strategy to deal with them.
2. We confirm that Yes, you can use your SUP in the snow
February has been a wild month of weather in our corner of the Calder Valley. As the action packed office that we are, we couldn’t resist testing our SUPs in the snow. As you can see they perform surprisingly well on all forms of water. If ever you’re tempted to SUP-sled don’t forget to take out the centre fin!
3. Bluefin wants to hear from YOU!
We love our SUP community and wouldn’t be here without you. What better way to show our appreciation than to showcase your unique stories and adventures? This year we’ve launched an initiative to give our customers a platform to share how they SUP. We think this will be a fantastic source of inspiration for anyone thinking of getting into the sport of SUP or anyone looking for new ideas on how to to take their SUP further. 4. Bluefin won Northern Exporter of the year at the PD Ports Northern Powerhouse Exporter of the year awards!
It is rare that we toot our own horn but we are so proud of this recognition that we couldn’t help but share. We certainly didn’t expect to win and went in mainly with the hopes of attending a fantastic event at the York Railway Museum. Low and behold, WE WON!
