When imagining hopping on a Stand Up Paddleboard, many people may picture the ocean, but there are so many more amazing places to take your iSUP! The North West of England has a range of different types of water perfect for this sport!

The Lake District

Let’s start with England’s largest national park… the Lake District! With 16 lakes, tarns and meres this area is the perfect place for paddle boarding! Ullswater is the second largest lake in the Lake District, so why not SUP the full length of the lake – 30mph down winds make it perfect for the ultimate Lake District SUP tour. The three-hour, the one-way trip starts from the Steamer Pier car park in Glenridding village and finishes at Pooley Bridge in the north.

Coniston Water

Made famous by Arthur Ransome’s Swallows and Amazons, Peel Island is located towards the southern end of Coniston Water. Running through the market town is the Rochdale Canal, which stretches from Sowerby Bridge to Manchester. So, hop on your paddleboard and make your way through the beautiful scenery along the waterway from Hebden Bridge to Todmorden. Why not stop at the Stubbing Wharf Pub along the way for a quick bite and a drink. Then complete the rest of your journey, finishing at the Golden Lion in Todmorden.

Hollingworth Lake

Moving west to Greater Manchester, Hollingworth Lake is an area popular for water sports and family days out. Start at the Wine Press pub and paddle along the shore of the lake, finishing close to the Beach pub. The Beach pub serves great food, so you can refuel after a long paddle.
