Plant a Tree

Going back to our roots

The natural world is at the heart of everything we do. As SUP adventurists, it’s where we play, it’s where we make memories, and it’s where we take care of our health and wellbeing. In return, we need to show it the same level of respect. For that reason alone, we’re proud to say we’ve partnered with like-minded organisation Ecologi in support of their plant a tree scheme, to show our appreciation and to give back what we take from nature.

What is Plant A Tree and how does it work?

With Ecologi’s help, we will plant one tree for every purchase and one tree for every sign-up to our newsletter, in some of the world’s most endangered habitats.

It’s a way we can replenish the Earth’s natural resources while reducing our carbon footprint.

And in the interests of transparency, you can even see where in the world your tree has been planted. Just visit the tree counter on Ecologi’s website to see satellite pictures and receipts for all tree planting activities.

You can sign-up for our newsletter here. Not only will you receive exclusive updates with offers and news from our SUP community but you’ll also be helping to support the scheme.

Every new sign-up means another tree planted and that’s music to our ears.

What else are we doing to reduce our carbon footprint?

We’re not ones to rest on our laurels. While planting trees is a step in the right direction, we know there’s still work to be done to make Bluefin more sustainable. That’s why we’re analysing our current manufacturing methods and seeking to incorporate recycled materials wherever possible in our products. In addition, we’re busy putting measures in place to reduce the amount of packaging sent out to customers.

The Future of Sustainable Paddleboarding

We actively support paddlers working toward a more sustainable future. We have and will continue to donate boards to help those taking part in campaigns such as 5 Minute Beach Clean and Surfers Against Sewage.

We also believe paddleboarding to be one of the most sustainable methods of enjoying the water. Not requiring any batteries or a motor, we love the eco-friendly nature of SUP.

Paddlers also find themselves becoming more aware of sustainability issues when using our boards, which can only be a positive thing. Once people get on their SUP and begin exploring waterways, they’re often shocked at the amount of plastic and litter they’re forced to paddle through.

We love seeing paddlers actively using their SUPs to help clean-up, as it really emphasises the multifunctional aspect of paddleboarding. Helping craft a better future for our local communities, we believe SUP and sustainability go hand-in-hand.

Whilst inflatable SUPs still have a long way to go to become fully sustainable, we’re doing all we can to make it happen. A recycled plastic board is definitely top of our list. And with a little more research and advancements in technology, we strive to make recycled boards an industry-standard one day.

And who knows, we may even turn from Bluefin to Greenfin!
